Each apartment has different terms regarding the security deposit. If an apartment requires a deposit, this will be indicated in the apartment details and on the booking page.
For rentals of more than 32 days / 31 nights: this amount must be paid to the property owner or the property representative before entering the apartment.
For stays of 32 days / 31 nights or less that require a security deposit: in most cases, we use Swikly, a secure solution that allows security deposits to be authorised online using a bank card number.
Please note that this is NOT a payment: the deposit amount is neither charged nor blocked on the guest’s bank account; you are simply authorising this amount in case of damage or issues in the apartment during your stay.
- Use only a VISA or MasterCard debit or credit card and carefully check all the details entered. If an error appears, try using another guest’s card.
- Keep your mobile phone handy to validate the operation (your bank may request approval by SMS or via its app). If you are already abroad, the SMS may not arrive, so it is important to authorise the deposit before travelling.
- If your bank blocks the transaction for security reasons, check its app or notifications.
- Some cards and countries have restrictions and may not work with Swikly. See restricted cards and authorised countries.
